About ESSU

Hi, I'm Emily!

I started developing ESSU in spring 2022. When I was little I used to "borrow" my mom's moisturizers and sneak a swipe of her lipsticks all the time. Now it feels like we have come full circle with me making body butters and lip glosses for her. Those core memories created my love for self care because it was like having small little treats that make us feel good. 

When the pandemic started, it created a lot of time to start a new hobby and to reflect on more on what I wanted to do post-college. Besides working in the legal field, I wanted to pursue beauty. I wanted to challenge myself to hand make body care and makeup with simple ingredients and incorporate sustainable aspects. 

The late nights of deep diving cosmetic formulating blogs, researching legal requirements for beauty products, and the help of youtube gave me the knowledge to start making test batches. Each batch was tested by me and then shared with family and friends. Their feedback helped me to refine each batch to reach the final point where I felt confident to share it with everyone.
